April Farm Update | Spring at Sandy Patch Ranch
Spring has arrived at Sandy Patch Ranch, and with it comes a flurry of activity, new life, and exciting projects! We're soaking up every moment of this season of renewal and growth on the ranch.
Meet Martini, Our Great Pyrenees Puppy
We’re thrilled to introduce Martini, our sweet Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog in training! She’s already met the sheep and is growing fast. Once she’s a little older, we’ll begin the process of integrating her full-time with the flock. We’ll be sharing videos of her training and transition to working alongside the sheep, so stay tuned!
New Sheep Shelter Completed
Our sheep now have a cozy new shelter in their winter/nighttime pen! They’ve been loving the extra comfort and protection. We shared the full shelter-building process in a previous post—check it out here if you missed it!
Chicks Hatching Weekly
It’s hatching season again, and we have new batches of chicks each week! If you're local and looking to add to your backyard flock, feel free to reach out. Our flock is NPIP certified, as it has been since we started hatching, so you can trust that you're getting strong, healthy chicks.
Sneak Peek: Well House Construction
Big things are happening—we’ve started building a new well house! It's still in progress, but we’ll be sharing a full blog post once it's complete. In the meantime, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok for sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos of the build.
Fruit Tree Fencing Complete
We finally fenced in our young fruit trees, and they’re thriving! With the trees protected, the sheep are back out grazing and enjoying the lush green grass we’ve been nurturing just for them.
Our Bailey is Expecting
Our beloved Catahoula, Bailey, is expecting puppies in early May! We’re looking forward to the pitter-patter of paws around the ranch once again. These pups come from proven working lines— all four grandparents were accomplished hog dogs, and we use our Catahoulas for herding here on the ranch. If you’re looking for a good working dog, be sure to follow us on social media or reach out—we’re happy to talk more about the breed and upcoming litter!
Grateful for a Season of Growth
We’re incredibly thankful for the blessings and beauty this season brings. From new life to new structures, spring is a reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness and the joy of stewarding this land.
